Blink-182 Reunion at the 2009 Grammy Awards

This is the BEST DAY EVER! Last night, after I arrived home from my trip to Florida I was alerted by one of my friends via Twitter that there had been a Blink-182 reunion at the Grammy Awards. I missed the appearance because I really had no desire to watch the Grammys this year because, let’s face it, the mainstream music industry leaves a lot to be desired.

Since I was alerted to this post after the festivities had ended, I did a search and found several articles online from Rolling Stone and MTV confirming the news.

The band had been on an “indefinite hiatus” since February of 2005. To celebrate this wonderful news, I have been jamming to Blink-182 albums in my car all day!

At the Grammys, Mark Hoppus, Tom Delonge, and Travis Barker presented Best Rock album to Coldplay. However, the presenting gig was overshadowed by the excitement of the reunion. During the ceremony Mark Hoppus jokingly said,

Isn’t it great to see the Jonas Brothers and Stevie Wonder back together again?

Travis Barker then added,

We used to play music together, and we decided to play music together once again!

Also, last night during the Grammy Awards, a message was posted on Mark Hoppus’ website. It reads,

Hi. We’re blink-182. This past week there’ve been a lot of questions about the current status from us. To put is simply, We’re back.We mean, really back. Picking up where we left off and then some. In the studio writing and recording a new album. Preparing to tour the world yet again. Friendships reformed. 17 years deep in our legacy.

Summer 2009

Thanks and get ready…

I am SO READY! 2009 is shaping up to be a great year!

It was announced during the Weekend Update sketch on the October 25 episode of Saturday Night Live that Amy Poehler would not be co-anchoring WU because she was having her baby! Maya Rudolph, who returned to SNL to play Michelle Obama in a sketch sang a duet at the end of WU with cast member Keenan Thompson dedicated to Amy. According to Amy’s rep,

On behalf of Amy and Will, I can confirm that Amy gave birth to Archie Arnett on Saturday, October 25th. He is 8 lbs 1 oz. Amy, Will and Archie are all healthy and resting comfortably.

Congratulations Will and Amy on the birth of your son!
